Spending your vacation in one of our lakeside cabins near Filipstad in Värmland means that you will have a large variety of activities to choose from!

Actually you might find you have everything you need just right where you are in that beautiful lakeside cabin: wonderful nature, great views and your own private lake access, a canoe or fishingboat, campire during sunset, maybe a sauna... but there is so much more to explore if you feel like it!

Hiking / Nature resort areas

You can start hiking out right ouside the cabin to explore the wilderness around it. But you will also find very nice, and exciting hiking trails nearby. A lot of information here: Hiking Värmland
Small trips, a few hours, daytrips - everything is out there. Here are some examples:
Brattforshedens Nature resort area - an exiting landscape shaped during the iceage (a few kilometers west of Filipstad) Close to Nykroppa south of Filipstad you find the Kroppatrail, a nice trail leading up on a mountain and taking you pass the old silvermines. Åbengtshöjden is nearby our Vintersjön cabins.
Högbergsfältet in Persberg east of Filipstad offers exciting shorter walks across the old iron minig field that nature has taken back. All settled right next to beautiful lake Yngen. Once there - don´t miss the world famouse Tilas Stoll

Canoeing

There are thousands of lakes in Värmland! A lot of them connected to more water.... You can book guided tours all over Värmland. But staying in one of our lakeside cabins you simply slip the canoe into the water right in front of the house and start exploring the nature. Look for that hidden bay, do a daytrip or maybe stay on an island for a night? This is a map showing the Svartälven-River canoe trail that passes by our Vintersjöncabins.

Fishing

Everyone can try it out - as our cabins all are right next to a lake and come with a canoe or fishingboat! We have gathered some information here: notes about fishing

Swimming in the lake

Obviously - taking a dip or a longer swim in the lake just a few steps from the cabin is surely a highlight during a vacation in Sweden! Excellent water quality. So relaxing, so quiet. Become part of nature. And with a sauna nearby it is very enjoyable through all seasons.

Biking in Värmland

In the forest surounding our cabins there ar a lot of small gravel roads and trails that are perfect for Mountainbiking. But furthermore there are excellent trails provided all over Värmland. You find a lot of information about the trails here: Biking Värmland

Sights and places to see

Värmland and Filipstad offers countless places worth a visit. Some of them Instagram-Highlights. Exciting and really something else is the Lesjöfors Museum north of Filipstad with the Trollstigen-Trail right next to it. Browse through the official touristsite Visitvärmland and Visitfilipstad to find out more. The main city in Värmland, Karlstad is a great place to visit during summertime: lots of places to go out and eat, several museums, even a opera house. Taking an affordable boat bus you can see the town from the waterside or take a daytrip out on one of the baeutiful islands of lake Vänern.

Foods and drinks

Especially in summertime Värmland holds a large variety of Cafés and restaurants Most of them using local products and recipes. We would like to recommend Big Hill Lodge outside Filipstad, where beside the restaurant you also find a stunning, wooden look out-tower.

Events

During the summerseason Värmland shows an incredible choice of all kind of things going on: festivals, outdoor-theater, flea-markets, open air music, exhibitions, classic car rallyes, all kind of markets.... Winteractivities

Plenty of Wintersport oppurtunities in Värmland!
Cross country skiing on perfect tracks outside Filipstad Kalhyttan-Sports Arena and down hill skiing on a small, charming hill in Lesjöfors north of Filipstad. Northern Värmland also offers dogsled-tours and snow-mobile tours. Staying in one of our lakeside log-cabins you just step outside and put on the skies or the skates to enjoy the freeride on the untouched ice or snow on the lake. You might even experience the northern lights!
